Please join us for a very special lunch and learn with Nigel Savage, the founder of Hazon, America's largest Jewish environmental group. The lunch will be on Tuesday, February 8 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the law firm of Bartlit Beck on the 8th floor of 1899 Wynkoop. Nigel will be leading a text study entitled "Vegetables at the Market," linking the food production and distribution process of ancient and modern times. People of all Judaic levels are welcome to attend. There is on-street meter parking available or parking under the building for $6.
Lunch will be kosher and vegetarian (and delicious!). The cost is $5 and will be limited to the first twelve people who register and pay below. If cost is an issue please contact [email protected] and we will be happy to accommodate you.
Here is a bit about Nigel:
Nigel Savage, founded Hazon (Hebrew for "vision") in 2000. Hazon works to create a healthier and more sustainable Jewish community and a healthier and more sustainable world for all. In 2000 Nigel led Hazon's first major project, a 3000-mile Cross-USA Jewish Environmental Bike Ride, in which participants cycled from Seattle, WA to Washington, DC, teaching and speaking along the way. They ended at the White House where they received a national award from the EPA.
Nigel has taught in a variety of settings, including the General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities, the Wexner Heritage Conference, the UJA Young Leadership Conference, the leadership retreat of the Dorot Fellows in Israel and the World Union of Jewish Students. His articles have appeared in various publications including The Forward and the Jerusalem Report.
