Purim Fun March 19th-20th!
Purim is fast approaching! Minyan Na'aleh invites you to celebrate the holiday with activities and events all weekend long!
POUR 'EM PURIM PARTY at Rooster & Moon (955 Bannock) Sat., March 19. Doors open 8 pm, Costume Contest at 10.
Minyan Na'aleh is teaming with the Young Adult Professionals Council to bring you a Purim party like no other! Come in costume and win gift certificates or ski passes if you top the crowd in one of four categories. Learn from an expert from Keshet about how Purim allows us to view our world and our social norms from a less rigid perspective. Bring two canned goods for the JFS Food Pantry to get in and enjoy free kosher appetizers and a cash bar. Go to facebook.com and search for Pour Em Purim for more details. Note: Minyan Na'aleh is not organizing a megillah reading on Saturday night but there is plenty of time to hear megillah at any area synagogue before heading down to the party. Email [email protected] if you need some suggestions or information on where you can hear the megillah.
MULTI-GENERATIONAL MEGILLAH READING at Allied Jewish Apartments (22 South Adams St. - 2nd floor chapel), Sun., March 20 at 10am.
From the very young to the young at heart, all are welcome for a traditional egalitarian megillah reading. Minyan Na'aleh is proud to join the residents at Allied Jewish Apartments for this annual Purim tradition. Costumes are encouraged as are graggers! Snacks will be served.
PURIM SEUDAH PERSIAN-STYLE at the home of Meredith & Ben Levy (124 S. Locust Street), Sunday March 20 at 4PM.
Are you ready for the REAL March Madness? Join us for a Persian-Plates-Preferred Potluck Purim Seudah (festive meal)! Once the Megillah's been read and you're all carnival-ed out, come on over for a meal, Ahashverosh-style, featuring: Kids costume contest, dairy Potluck (check out www.MinyanNaaleh.org for our kashrut policy), homemade hummus competition, a hula hoop contest, and of course, college hoops on TV for the addicts! Persian-themed dishes are encouraged but not required. Bring some potent potables as well! There will also be a siyyum (celebration to mark the end of a section of Jewish learning) led by Josh Fine in memory of his grandmother. Gift cards will be awarded for the best kids costume, best hula-hooper and most Persian dish.
